Tradesmen International, Inc. Workers' Compensation Manager in CLEVELAND, Ohio
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Risk Management, manages all aspects of the workers’ compensation program including but not limited to third party claims administrators; develops, implements and manages a return-to-work program; analyze claim loss and cost reserve data and monitor claims processing. This position is also responsible for providing status reports on trends and recommending cost-effective strategies to reduce exposure, settlement proposals, coverage options, trial results, and serious injury reviews on a regular basis.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY
This position will be tasked with keeping current with the trends and innovations within the industry and compliance with Workers’ Compensation State law, supervising the daily operations of claims management from inception to resolution. Oversee the workers’ compensation high deductible program
Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of staff involved in investigating, adjusting and processing of workers’ compensation claim. Responsibility includes instructing, assigning, planning and reviewing work, and evaluating performance.
Lead and develop a cohesive team in a rapidly changing environment to achieve company, department and individual goals.
Responsible for the timely and accurate reporting and recording of all work related injuries in compliance with State Laws, company policies and administrative best practices. Supervises workers’ compensation claims administration and ensures compliance with administration best practices
Ensure injured workers receive the highest level customer service and are provided access to the care needed to timely Return To Work.
Partner with outside resources, company leaders and Work Comp team to identify, implement and communicate cost containments opportunities,
Monitor internal KPI’s such as reporting time, avg days open, Return To Work, claim closures, and drive improved performance.
Weekly reviews of claims with potential settlement opportunity with Director of Risk Management
Performs quarterly claim file reviews of TPA to ensure quality control, adequate subrogation efforts, compliance with schedule of service standards and monitor defense counsel positions
Continually review business processes and identify opportunities for improvement. Implement strategies to improve accuracy and efficiency of department.
Build partnerships with other departments within the company to drive support of all related department activities.
Defines and refines roles of Workers’ Compensation staff in the workers’ compensation claims management process
Manage all reserve increases over $10,000
Participate in the development and administration of division goals, objectives, and procedures
Oversee annual Ohio Self Insured Application
Oversee annual Carrier/TPA Audit for quality control purpose
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
An adequate combination of education and experience in this field is required. Workers’ Compensation Manager should have thorough understanding of insurance industry, workers’ compensation coverage and claim issues. Five or more years of increased responsibility in workers’ compensation experience and five or more years managerial experience.
Practices and procedures of claims evaluation including investigation
TPA practices, procedures and performance standards
Set priorities an accomplish tasks within allotted timeframes
Train, develop and motivate staff
Establish and maintain program objectives, priorities and polices
Seek solutions and provide results that meet overall program and objectives
Proficient in Microsoft Office Products Excel, Word, and Outlook. Computer skills, Microsoft Word, E-mail, and Microsoft Excel
Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills
Demonstrated leadership skills including proactive partnering in a large complex organization.
Commitment to maintaining the highest level of confidentiality when dealing with personal, injury and medical information.
Excellent interpersonal skills with a customer service approach to problem solving.
